Build With Us

At the Pravan Foundation, we are reimagining what mental health can look like in Puerto Rico.

We believe every person deserves access to compassionate, evidence-based care — without stigma, without barriers, without delay.

This Moment Matters

Puerto Rico is facing an unprecedented mental health crisis — long waitlists, provider shortages, and communities carrying the weight of compounding social, environmental, and economic stress.

We are building the solutions our island deserves.

For years, people said Puerto Rico had to wait.
Wait for mainland models. Wait for someone else to lead.
Wait for permission to innovate in mental health.

But a growing community across the island said: No.

We can build this ourselves

Pravan Foundation exists because we are building the system that treats the whole person, honors ancestral wisdom alongside modern research, and refuses to ask our communities to wait for the care they deserve.

Where Your Support Goes

Every dollar you give fuels initiatives that expand access to innovative mental health care across Puerto Rico.

A Personal Commitment

From our Co-Founder & CEO

My name is

David Melchor

and for the past eight years I've had the privilege of serving as the co-founder and CEO of Pravan Health, one of Puerto Rico's leading concierge medical practices. Before that, I spent decades building companies, creating jobs, and investing in the future of this island I've called home for more than 30 years.

Puerto Rico is where I built my businesses, my family, and my life. My wife is Puerto Rican. My children are Puerto Rican. And the work we've done through Pravan has become a model for what high-quality, patient-centered care can look like in Puerto Rico.

For most of my life, I have been focused on building — building companies, building systems, building opportunities.

And then, three years ago, my life changed abruptly.

I was diagnosed with early-stage Parkinson's disease.

It forced me to confront something that even the most successful among us can't escape: the fragility of our own health — especially our mental health.

My own mental health struggles forced me to see something I had missed for far too long: even when you have resources, connections, and access, the system can still fall short in the moments that matter most.

If it was this hard for me — with a supportive family and a world-class medical team — I began to imagine what it was like for the hundreds of thousands of people on this island navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and crisis with almost no support at all.

That realization is what
inspired my partners and me to launch the Pravan Foundation — to build the mental health system Puerto Rico deserves, not the one we inherited.
